DML M 274 Mule with 106 recoilless rifle & crew (Hue City 1968)
by Mark Nebbeling, IPMS/West Michigan

The Mule as it was called, was one of those weapons that was invented for close support for the
Marines in the late 50s. It was used most notably in Vietnam during the Tet offensive in 1968. It
was used in Saigon and Hue for close infighting in city streets. The Mule by DML is one of those
kits that is not for everyone. It's a little known vehicle with very limited applications, so unless you
are going to do a diorama of a street scene then there isn't much use for the kit.

The kit contains 60 parts molded in light gray. All the parts are well defined but many are very
delicate and must be removed with great care. Most of these parts have to be glued with super
glue and accelerator because the parts are so small regular glue won't work.

The gun is excellent and goes together in no time.

The figures are a disappointment, not because the figures are misshapen but
because of the pose. DML has a great set of figures for this specific gun but of course
they are not in this kit!

The price of the kit is $15.95.
